HISTORY OF THE NATIONAL CONGRESS

A Gift to the Dance Community
The BDF National Congress was the brainchild of Mr Stephen Hillier MBE, created with a heartfelt intention: to give something back to our members, supporters, and the wider dance industry.

Each year, seven world-class lecturers are invited to deliver a 20-minute presentation—no easy task when condensing a lifetime of knowledge into a brief but impactful session. Over the years, audiences have enjoyed exceptional insights from some of the most respected figures in our Dance Industry.

The National Congress has become a cherished part of the British National Dance Festival, attracting dancers of all levels and remaining completely free to attend. Its popularity continues to grow, and it stands as a true highlight of the annual dance calendar.
